The Sparc Pakistan in its campaign against bonded labour languishing in illegal custody of cruel brick-kiln owners, with the help of PS Tando Jam was able to recover 58 people during a raid early this month.
As per detail the SHO, Tando Jam on a tip off from Sparc about people being used as forced labour, raided a brick-kiln in Tando Hyder, Daraz Khan and took 58 people working as bonded labour and released them later.
Responding to a request submitted by Khemchand Kolhi, once a victim of brick-kiln bonded labour, the protection Manager, Sparc, Kashif Bajeer with the help of Sparc legal advisors, Naseer Laghari and Shazado saleem filed a case against brick-kiln owner who was holding 49 people as bonded labours. Out of them, 23 were children nine women and 17 men.
After being released from court, people released from the chain of bonded labour, gathered at press club Hyderabad. The Sparc Protection Manager stated in the press briefing that the victims remained bonded would have suffered dangerous cruelty if not released fortunately.
Further, he stated that Sparc is fighting for the rights of bonded labours, especially the women and children who were deprived of their innate rights even education and basic health. 'Sparc Pakistan is putting best endeavours to be the voice of child and human rights and will continue its struggle for poor communities. However, now it was the state responsible for ensuring the livelihood and shelter for these victims of financial constraints.
