The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has moved a summary to the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani for the approval to establish National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) in sector G-5, Islamabad. It was decided in the 25th CDA board meeting chaired by Kamran Lashari, and attended by other senior officials.
Talking to Business Recorder, CDA officials said that the project has been approved by the Authority but the civic agency is not authorised to take the decision on it solely. They said that in the meeting it was also decided to re-examine the construction of multi-story car parking plaza on build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.
It was decided to construct parking plazas in the federal capital on urgent basis to deal with increasing traffic congestion in the commercial areas of the capital. The meeting also approved feasibility study for proposed Mass Transit System to facilitate the public of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
It also decided to allot two school plots to Federal Directorate of Education in Model Urban Shelter Project, Farash Town. The CDA board also took a decision to hire services of consultant to improve and better manage the fire and rescue department of the civic agency.
