Body formed to resolve construction industry problems

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said the government is focusing on the provision of low-cost housing to the people to meet housing shortage in the country. He was talking to a delegation of the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan that called on him here at the PM House this afternoon.
The Prime Minister said that the government is committed to realising PPP's vision of 'Roti, Kapra and Makaan' for ensuring the provision of these basic necessities of life to the people as was envisioned by Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. He said the government is taking steps for solving the problems of the construction industry to ensure its seamless growth and progress.
The Prime Minister formed a committee to look into the problems of the construction industry that includes secretaries of the ministries of Housing and Works and Finance, Chairman FBR and the Chairman of Association of Builders and Developers for formulating suggestions.
The delegation informed the Prime Minister about the role and potential of the construction sector to improve the national economy through infrastructure development and creating employment.
The representatives of the construction industry assured the Prime Minister that despite operational difficulties they would gear up their efforts to help the government translate its vision of housing for all into reality.
