A private complaint has been filed against former chief minister Punjab Pervaiz Elahi, his former advisor Haji Muhammad Hanif, district naib Nazim Lahore Azeem Hanif and police officers on the charges of conducting firing on a PML-N's election office in Gawalmandi area a day before Feb-18 general elections.
At least two persons were killed and six received injuries during the indiscriminate firing carried out on the election office of PP-142. The complaint was filed before anti terrorism court by one Fayaz Mehmood Pasha, a resident of Gawalmandi, submitting that his son Shahzada Armaghan Pasha alias Manu Butt had set up the election office of PML-N in the constituency of PP-142. The court has summoned the witnesses for July 2 to record their statements.
On February 17, the accused Azeem Hanif, who was a candidate of PML-Q from the constituency, along with his accomplices came to the office and opened indiscriminate firing killing his son Manu Butt, a passer-by Alamzeb Khan and injuring Saeed Heera, Nadeem, Mohsin, Rizwan, Zafar and a lady Salma Nazir.
The complainant said the incident caused a severe panic in the locality due to which the shopkeepers of the area had to flee after shutting down their workplaces to save their lives.
He alleged that the firing was conducted at the behest of former chief minister Punjab and his advisor Haji Hanif due political rivalry. The complainant further alleged that Haji Hanif at the behest of Pervez Elahi used to give life threats to his son demanding closure of the election office of PML-N.
He said the police was informed about the incident and an application for registration of case was also filed but the police lodged FIR against some unidentified persons due to then influence of PML-Q leadership.
