Government giving priority to welfare of low-income groups: Gilani

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said the government is giving high priority to the welfare of all segments of the society particularly the lower income groups. The Prime Minister said this while talking to a delegation of the Trade Union Alliance led by General Secretary, Liaquat Sahi, which called on him during his visit to the State Bank of Pakistan in Karachi here on Tuesday.
The delegation informed the Prime Minister that people are appreciative of the steps taken by the government including the release of detained judges and its commitment to their reinstatement. They also extended their warm felicitations to the Prime Minister on his unanimous election as PM, which shows the confidence the entire House has shown in his leadership.
The Union representatives briefed the Prime Minister about various matters relating to the welfare of the employees of State Bank and other banks including the withdrawal of political cases against their leaders and the restoration of unions in banks.
The Prime Minister assured them that their demands would be considered favourably. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Finance, Syed Naveed Qamar, Federal Minister for Labour, Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Advisor to the PM on Social Sector, Ms Shahnaz Wazir Ali and Advisor to the PM on Economic Affairs, Ms Hina Rabbani Khar also attended the meeting.
