Rain brought Roger Federer's blistering start to his Wimbledon quarter-final against Mario Ancic to a halt on Wednesday after just 27 minutes of action. The five-time champion led Ancic, the last man to beat Federer on grass here in 2002, 6-1, 1-1 when play on Centre Court was suspended.
On Court One, Feliciano Lopez was leading Marat Safin 5-2 in his quarter-final. Rain had delayed the start of play by one hour but got underway just before 1300GMT, confounding forecasters who had predicted play would not start until around 1500GMT. Later, Britain's Andy Murray was to follow on Centre Court against Spanish second seed Rafael Nadal. On Court One, Rainer Schuettler was taking on Arnaud Clement in a battle of the veterans.
