The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) is taking emergency steps to de-silt various sewer lines and open drains ahead of the upcoming monsoon season. According to Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) sources, special instructions have been issued for the de-silting of the covered portion of channel No-1 from Saeed Ahmad to Ghulam Muhammad Abad (GMA).
This work will be completed within one and half months at an estimated cost of Rs 482,500. Official sources mentioned that storm water channel No 4 would also be improved at a cost of Rs 3.192 million. This will be done in two phases, he said and added that Rs 363, 667 has been allocated for the improvement of this channel from Jaranwala Road to Satiana Road. Similarly, Rs 2.8 million has been earmarked for the improvement of this storm water channel from Satiana Road to the Disposal station of D-Type Colony.
The Water And Sanitation Agency (WASA) is also going to start work to supply potable water to the Punjab Government Servants Housing Scheme (PGSHS) on Satiana Road. WASA Director (Planning and Design), Abdul Majeed said that a main water transmission line would be laid down from Gogera Branch Canal to the colony along Satiana Road. Wasa has also decided to rehabilitate its laboratory on Sheikhupura Road.
