The Vice Chancellor (VC), Punjab University (PU), Dr Mujahid Kamran paid rich tribute to Dr Ambedkar who showed great respect for his struggle to eliminate social injustice in India. He said the late constitution maker served for a broad-based humanity.
The VC observed that the discriminatory attitude of the Hindus with the Muslims was responsible for creation of independent Pakistan and Dr Ambedkar's constitution had saved India from further partition. His comments came in the launching ceremony of the book titled 'Founder of Secular Democratic India' by Yousaf Irfan.
Sir Ganga Ram Heritage Foundation organised the ceremony was attended by Professor Ronki Ram and Lahori Ram Bali of India, guests from Nepal and Bangladesh, literary personalities of Lahore and writer of the book, Yousaf Irfan held in a local hotel.
The VC also said the Pakistan's government should provide subsidised books so that people could find easy access to books that would lead towards an educated society. A faculty of Philosophy in Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Professor Satia Gotam said Pakistan has less literature on Dr Ambedkar therefore writing a comprehensive book on the Indian revolutionary, is a great achievement. He said this book would help Pakistani people to learn fighting against injustice.
Senior Indian journalist, Lahori Ram Bali said he had an opportunity to work with Dr Ambedkhar for five years. In 1930, Ambedkar attended the Second Roundtable Conference in London with Dr Allama Iqbal and Muslims' delegation supported Dr Ambedkar instead of Gandhi', he said.
Another speaker, Professor Ronki Ram highlighted various aspects of Dr Ambedkar's life. The Director, Sir Ganga Ram Heritage Foundation, Dr Mujahid Ali Mansoori said Pakistan's nation is facing the constitutional crisis and curse of landlord-ship while Ambedkar had struggled to get people of undivided India rid of these two problems.
Further, he said this was the reason that the Foundation selected the personality of Dr Ambedkar tp publish a book on him. "The work would prove helpful for Pakistan to get out of the constitutional crisis. Dr Mansoori also said confession holds great power and we confess that the constitutional process that started in India was quite forceful and was possible only due to strenuous efforts rendered by Dr Ambedkar.
