President Pervez Musharraf strongly condemned the bomb blasts in Karachi on Monday, saying the despicable acts of terrorism were a conspiracy against the country and the people. The President said these terrorist elements want to destabilise the country by disturbing the law and order, but they would not succeed in their nefarious designs.
He urged the people to display solidarity and keep unity in their ranks and files to foil the nefarious designs of the miscreants. Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani strongly condemning a series of explosions in Karachi, directed to put the security on high alert in all the four provinces.
Talking to the Advisor for the Interior Ministry, Rehman Malik, on telephone, the Prime Minister reiterated government's firm resolve to deal with such anti-state elements sternly to safeguard the lives of the people.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain strongly condemned the suicide bomb blast in the twin city and also expressed his deep anguish and sorrow over injuries caused as a result of series of blasts in various places of Karachi. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman strongly condemned the bomb explosions in Karachi. In a statement, she reiterated government's commitment to root out terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
