Isani calls on President Musharraf

U A G Isani, head of the Commission, formed to evaluate the extent of damage suffered by ordinary citizens as a result of the acts of looting and arson after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, called on President Pervez Musharraf at the Governor House here on Monday.
The President's spokesman Rashid Qureshi told media that the President was pleased to know that the Commission had completed its report on March 4, 2008, and commended Isani and his team for timely submission of the report.
The President appreciated Isani for the details with which the report had been prepared and he also indicated that the Prime Minister had approved the recommendations of the Commission in respect of payment for the loss of lives, serious injuries, damage to shops, vehicles, petrol pumps and industrial estates.
He said that the claims regarding large commercial vehicles and industrial units which were damaged or lost would be decided shortly by the committees headed by the Interior and Finance Secretaries. Rashid said that Isani also briefed the President regarding the recommendations of the Commission. He further stated that President appreciated Isani regarding this.
