Punjab Health Department has directed all the Executive District Officers (EDOs) Health to complete all pre-flood arrangements and send a comprehensive compliance report to the headquarters. Director Health Services (CDC), Dr Zia-ur-Rehman said that on the directions of Secretary Health and DG Health.
A circular had been sent to all EDOs to ensure effective functioning of flood cells, availability of focal persons, and of essential vaccines like anti-snake, anti-rabies and anti-tetanus vaccine and other emergency medicines.
According to a handout here on Tuesday, the EDOs have also been asked to arrange regular meetings with all line departments especially Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) and Public Health Engineering Department to ensure supply of safe drinking water and sanitation during the flood season.
Emergency medical teams must be ready to be deputed to the flood areas and all ambulances reserved for emergency must be in functional condition. Regular food and water sampling must be done and sale of cut fruits and open juices must be checked. The officers have been directed to send a compliance report and certify that all the pre-flood activities have been carried out in their relevant districts.
