Sindh local government minister suspends three officials for negligence

09 Jul, 2008

The Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Khan Durani has suspended three officers of the local government of Sehwan Sharif due to their negligence, which resulted in contaminated drinking water being supplied to the public. The suspended officers are TMO Sehwan Mohammad Azam Memon, Taluka Officer Infrastructure (TOIS) Ghulam Asghar Bhand and TMO Finance Sehwan.
This action was taken after a surprise visit by the minister to the water supply tanks of Sehwan Sharif early Tuesday morning. The provincial minister found the tanks filled with rubbish and garbage. Talking to people gathered at the site, Durani said that these officers were warned a few days ago for their negligence, but failed to resolve the problem.
He said that present government believes in serving the people rather than ruling or resting at the public's expense. He said the government servants were taking salaries from the public money and thus were bound to serve the people in the fields entrusted to them.
