The Election Commission (EC) has called upon the political parties to submit their statements of accounts with the Commission before August 29 for the fiscal 2007-08.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) former justice Qazi Muhammad Farooq has reminded the political parties that in terms of Article 13 of the Political Parties Order, 2002, they have to file with (EC) their statements of accounts for financial year 2007-08 on or before August, 29.
It may be recalled that Article 13 of the Political Parties Order, 2002 provides that every political party shall submit to the EC within 60 days from the close of each financial year, a consolidated statement of accounts of the party, duly audited by a Chartered Accountant, containing, annual income and expenses, sources of its funds; and assets and liabilities.
The statement of accounts is to be submitted in Form-I as prescribed under the Political Parties Rules, 2002. Printed forms are available, free of cost, in the (EC) Secretariat, Islamabad and in the offices of the Provincial Election Commissioners, Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan. The statements shall be delivered to the Secretary EC of Pakistan in the EC Secretariat, Constitution Avenue, G-5/2, Islamabad through an office bearer of the party, duly authorised by the party leader. As per provisions of rule 11 of the Political Parties Rules, 2002, statement received through post, fax, courier service or any other mode is not entertainable.
