The Punjab government is taking several steps to upgrade the 456 acre Jallo Park run by the Forest Department. In the first phase of the project, land has been evacuated and FIRs registered against violators and encroaches. Additionally, the beautification of roadsides from the Mall to Jallo Park has also begun.
Punjab Forest Secretary Khusro Pervaiz Khan told reporters at the opening a three-day workshop of Forest Guards on Friday at the park that security would be ensured. Construction of a boundary wall had started to this affect he added. Khan also said that a 50-kilomertre long bicycle path, badminton and volleyball courts, Scotties, cricket and other sports was also available at the park. "Concrete steps were being adopted to give a new look of this park, which would increase the number of visitors manifold.
In this beautification plan, PHA, Lahore District Government, Irrigation and C&W Departments also playing their role. Access would be provided to everyone through email and toll free number to register his or her complaints and suggestions for the betterment of the Jallo Park," he announced.
Khan also said that forests guards had been invited to this workshop to provide them an opportunity to study their field better. "This on-job training has been initiated as a new experience which will help the officials professionally," he concluded.
