US coffee and cocoa futures climbed early Friday on the back of soaring crude oil and a down dollar as both markets consolidated after their recent sharp drop. ICE Futures US September arabica was up 1.55 cents at $1.4305 per lb by 9:15 am EDT (1315 GMT), in dealings from $1.42 to $1.4365. The rest rose 0.75 to 1.50 cents.
ICE benchmark September cocoa was up $12 at $2,922 a tonne by 9:17 am, trading from $2,904 to $2,950. The rest from $6 to $14 stronger. Market continued to consolidate after falling sharply from 28-year highs recently, traders said.
