The Pakistan Psychiatric Society (PPS), in collaboration with the World Psychiatric Association and the South Asian Forum on Mental Health and Psychiatry, is holding a three-day 17th International Psychiatric Conference on 'Updates in Psychiatry' at Quetta on November 28 to 30.
As many as 500 mental health professionals - 350 from different parts of the country and 150 from the US, UK, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, UAE and Egypt - are expected to participate in the moot for which elaborate arrangements are being made, said Professor Abdul Malik Achakzai, chairman of the organising committee of the moot.
Professor Achakzai, who is also known as 'smiling Buddha', told Business Recorder that participants of the moot would share their working experiences, which would help update their knowledge in the field of psychiatry. He said that leading mental health professionals would deliver papers on various subjects.
He said that holding of the mega event at Quetta would help the mental health professionals of Quetta and other areas of the province to update their knowledge about latest trend in the field of psychiatry. Moreover, a meeting of the organising and scientific committees of the moot was held in which scientific programme of the event was finalised. Among others, Professor Dr Haroon Rashid Chaudhry, Dr Nasir Saeed Khan, Dr Aftab Asif, and Dr Imran Haider attended the meeting.
