German diplomats briefed on Eye Bank Society role

Ms Gudrun Haider, Commercial Counsellor, and Shazia Sheikh, Trade Advisor, Consulate-General of Germany, visited Pakistan Eye Bank Society. Qazi Sajid Ali, General Secretary, Pakistan Eye Bank Society, apprised them about the various services of the hospital and told them that Pakistan Eye Bank Society is engaged in providing treatment and rehabilitation to the corneal blind and patients suffering from other eye diseases.
He said that the society has so far done more than 15,000 corneal transplant operations over past 40 years and is now providing, through this hospital, eye treatment to poor patients. "Pakistan Eye Bank Society has started dental care services also and screening hepatitis patients," he added.
Ms Haider appreciated the services of Pakistan Eye Bank Society and said that from November 2008, German Dr Gerhard Pulhorn, who is specialist in anterior segment of the eye glaucoma, cornea surgery, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, would serve Eye Hospital through Senior Expert Service of Germany.-PR
