Action against 40 illegal housing societies

Punjab Minorities Affairs and Human Rights Minister Kamran Michael has said that the government has carried out operation to retrieve government land and in this regard a committee has been formed that will submit its report within two months. He was talking to a delegation here on Wednesday, said an official.
The minister said the government has taken serious notice over construction of housing colonies and plazas on 2738 acres of government land by nazims and other influential persons in Harbanspura.
The concerned authorities have been directed to take strict action against them. Kamran Michael said that more than 40 illegal housing societies have been constructed on government land in Harbanspura and on the instructions of the Punjab Chief Minister four operations have been carried out.
"The government has taken immediate notice of the construction of illegal residential colonies by nazims and influential persons in Harbanspura and million of rupees are being received illegally from the homeless people," he added.
