A five-member delegation of the Australia-based Law Association for Asia and the Pacific (LawAsia) headed by its president MAH Weng Kwai will meet deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry here on Friday. Other deposed judges of the Supreme Court will also participate in the meeting to be held at the residence of the deposed CJ.
The delegation arrived in Lahore on Thursday on a five-day visit to Pakistan on the invitation of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC). It will visit Islamabad and Karachi. In Lahore, the delegation has met president of Supreme Court Bar Association Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, who briefed the visitors about the ongoing lawyers movement.
In Islamabad, the delegation will also meet Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Division Farooq H. Naek on Friday. The Federal Minister will host a dinner in the honour of the delegation.
In Karachi, the delegation will meet the deposed chief justice of Sindh High Court Sabihuddin Ahmed and other sacked judges of the same court. Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council Rasheed A. Rizvi will host dinner in the honour of the delegation.
