Rabbani hails Prime Minister's address

The Leader of the House in the Senate, Raza Rabbani, has hailed Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's address to the nation. Talking to APP here on Sunday, he said that the Prime Minister's speech was a reflection of realities that exist in the political field.
"Its unfortunate that the vestiges of dictatorship have failed to accept the mandate of the February 18 general elections and are continuing their palace intrigues to sabotage people's verdict. Such intrigues and conspiracies will be foiled with the will of the people ", he remarked.
He said that despite this the coalition government in the first 100 dasy, among other things, has been able to release the judges of superior courts and payment of salaries to them. Raza said that the government had also been able to negotiate with Saudi Arabia the deferred oil payment of nearly six billion dollars.
He said that the government was also in the process of regularising the contract employees of grades 1 to 15 and fixing the minimum wages of Rs 6,000 per month.
He said that the government was also putting in place a scheme for cash assistance to those living below poverty line. He said that the direction of the coalition government has been set internally as pro-people and anti-cartelism, and externally to foster friendly relations with all countries on the basis of sovereign equality and not to tolerate any violation under any pretext of its territorial sovereignty.
