Pakistani rice is getting strong presence in Chinese food grain market in terms of quantity as it registered more than double the export to China in the first four months of the current year. An official at Pakistan Embassy told APP on Monday that in January-April 2007, Pakistan had exported around 65,820 kg rice to China.
He, however, pointed out that in the same corresponding period of current year (January-April 2008), Pakistan has successfully exported 1,34,000 kg of staple food to China. This is a big jump forward for the export of Pakistani rice to China for four months (January-April 2008), he noted.
Meanwhile, the impact of upward trade in term of cost of rice in Pakistan was also felt here in China, as the ten KG bag of fine quality rice which was used to be available at the beginning of the year at 120 RMB (Chinese Currency) is now being sold at 170 RMB. As the Pakistani rice is very famous especially, among foreigners living here, they were compelled to purchase the kitchen commodity by paying enhanced price.
