PML-N demands immediate impeachment of Musharraf

22 Jul, 2008

PML-N Central Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal has demanded immediate impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf and restoration of deposed judges. In a statement here Monday, he said those responsible of creating crisis in the country should be brought to justice and not to compromise with them.
"Ending of political uncertainty is pre-requisite to overcome economic crisis", Ahsan Iqbal said. He said any effort to restore economy would be futile if political uncertainty is not ended. Ahsan Iqbal while criticising the statement of Defence Minister regarding PML-N ministers' resignation, said PML-N resigned from fifteen ministries and did not compromise on principles. He termed it as merely propaganda and beyond the truth.
He said PML-N wants coalition government's success, but can't compromise on the issue of judges. He said democracy could not be sustained without independence of judiciary. Ahsan Iqbal said PML-Q leaders are responsible for instability in the country. He said his party has advised PPP to start dialogue in television about load-shedding, price hike and anarchy in the country, so that the nation could know the responsible people. He said it is unfortunate that the remnants of Pervez Musharraf are still holding powers and PPP compromised with Pervez Musharraf.
