Jamat-e-Islami rally against hike in POL prices

The hundred percent price hike in 100-day of the present government's rule has deprived the poor people of bread. The government should avoid making anti-peasant policies. Jamat-e-Islami district Pakpattan Ameer Dr Muhammad Akram stated this while addressing the participants of the rally brought out under aegis of JI Arifwala to mark protest against increase in POL prices here on Thursday.
He said the government should stop military operation in tribal areas without caring US interests there. He said the hike in prices of petroleum products had made the life of poor masses more miserable and JI as per its policy would continue to voice against tyranny against them.
Addressing the participants of procession JI Arifwala Ameer Maulana Abdul Razzaq said that the rulers by increasing prices of petroleum products had created economic problems for the masses, adding that unless the people come on roads, no positive change would occur in socio-political scenario of the country.
Rao Muhammad Jamil, addressing the people said that the hike in POL prices would cause to increase price of everything, creating instability in every sphere of life. He alleged that the former government minted 70 billions rupees in the name of people, while the present government had given the President Musharraf free hand to do whatever he likes.
The procession starting from the office of JI converted into protest meeting at Jinnah Chowk. The participants of rally were carrying banners with slogans inscribed against the price hike. The labourers in large number also participated the rally.
