An international conference and exhibition titled "Environment Asia-2008" will be held here in the provincial capital on August 19-20. The event is being organised by an English periodical 'The Development Times' in collaboration with the Chemical Engineering Department, University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Lahore and Engineers Study Forum.
Board of Investment, Government of Pakistan, Pakistan Environment Protection Agency and Industrial Information Network (IIN) of Small & Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) will also extend their co-operation towards conducting the event.
The main objective of the event is to share the international best practices and technologies on environment pollution control with policy makers and implementers in Pakistan, said Mian Fazal Ahmad chief editor Development Times. A number of companies dealing in production and sale of environment friendly technologies, products and services have already booked their stalls in the expo.
Papers to be presented at the event will cover the impact of the current industrial and social pollution in Pakistan, and suggestions on modern techniques to control pollution in a cost effective manner. A large number of representatives and stakeholders from the industrial sector, business and government departments will attend Environment Asia 2008, at the end of which environment quality awards will also be presented, said Fazal Ahmad.
