Punjab Population Welfare Minister Mrs Neelam Jabbar Chaudhry has said that PPP believed in peoples' power and brought the national politics out of the drawing rooms to the streets. Addressing an open Kutchery held at Bilawal House, Model Town here on Thursday, she said that PPP would ensure supremacy of rule of law.
She added that PPP promoted the real democracy in Pakistan, recalling Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto struggled for social, economic and political welfare of the masses. She said that government has started socio-economic welfare-oriented programme with a cost of Rs 145 billion to minimise the economic problems of the people.
She said that Punjab government would provide Rs 13 billion subsidy on food items to the poor, whereas, Rs one billion will be spent to provide houses to the homeless people. Besides, she said, the federal government has also started Shaheed Benazir Support Programme under which Rs one thousand monthly grant would be provided to the deserving people as well as homes would also be provided to the shelter less people.
She said PPP is the saviour party of the country, adding we will continue our struggle for the welfare of the people. The Minister said that open Kutchery are being organised for solution of the people's problems. During the kutchery she issued directives to the officials of Health, Baitul Maal, Social Welfare, Police, District Governments and other departments for quick solution of the complaints.
