15th NAM ministerial meeting in Tehran from July 29

The 15th ministerial meeting of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) will be held in Tehran, from July 29 to 30. The two-day ministerial meeting will be preceded by a meeting of senior Officials from July 27 to 28. According to Foreign Office Spokesman here, the theme of the Tehran Ministerial Conference is "Solidarity for Peace, Justice and Friendship".
The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) was founded in 1961 at the Belgrade conference. It has currently 118 member-states. NAM is a voice of the developing countries. Pakistan joined NAM in 1979 and has since participated in all its summits and ministerial conferences. Over the years, Pakistan has maintained a high profile in activities of the organisation.
Pakistan believes that Non-Aligned Movement has made an admirable contribution in the past to the cause of freedom and liberty and to the struggle against colonialism and racial discrimination.
The 15th ministerial conference will be focusing on a number of issues of interest to Pakistan. These include terrorism, reform and expansion of UN Security Council, disarmament, peaceful settlement of disputes, self-determination, human rights, global economic situation and food security.
