Abida urges politicians to end prejudices

25 Jul, 2008

Pakistan People's Party leader Syeda Abida Hussain said that country's political parties should end their prejudices and work for progress and prosperity of the country. Talking to a private TV channel, she said the coalition government of Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-N must not fail as anti-democratic forces can benefit from its failure.
She said the formation of coalition government of PPP and PML-N was a popular step. Certain lobbies are busy in creating confusion among the coalition partners. She was convinced that ministries vacated by PML-N members are hampering the smooth working of the government.
Regarding performance of government she said Pakistan Peoples Party has inherited harsh economic conditions and it should be given ample time to steer the country out of crisis as just three months are too short to judge the performance of a government. She urged PPP to immediately restore the deposed judges of superior judiciary. The popularity graph of PPP led government has went down owing to its delay in restoration of judiciary.
Currently there was no agreement between the PPP and President Pervez Musharraf. If any it had already terminated after the assassination of Ms Benazir Bhutto. Praising PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari she said Zardari has suffered a lot as he remained in jails for eight long years that too without any solid reason. PPP is single national party. All the party men are united under his leadership. Asif believes in politics of reconciliation, she added.
