31 Jul, 2008

If Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) continued to violate its agreement with the industrialists of Lahore Township Industrial Area (LTIA), they would be left with no option but to close down their industrial units.
Chairman, LTIA, Amjad Ali Jawa, said on Wednesday that four months ago an agreement was reached between LTIA and the Lesco and according to the agreement Lesco assured LTIA that there would be no power-cut in the day time, while a three-hour load shedding would be observed from 7pm to 10pm.
He also said, though, Lesco implemented the agreement for three months with letter and spirit, for the last many days, Lesco has put the agreement a side and frequent power outage for many hours during day time have started which has adversely effected the industrial performance. He said that whenever they tried to contact the concerned Lesco officials, every time it was conveyed that the officials were busy in meetings.
Amjad Ali Jawa said that the area's industrialists were in trouble because they have to pay bills heavily due to unscheduled fluctuations. He urged the government to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the industrial area.
