Car assemblers asked to follow AIDP

Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Engineering Development Board (EDB), Asad Elahi has urged upon car assemblers to strictly adhere to indigenous programme given in Auto Industrial Development Programme (AIDP). In a meeting with Chief Executive Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited, Hirofumi Nagao here, the EDB CEO said that OMEs must make special efforts to catch-up the targets set in the programme.
He offered to have a meeting with the car assemblers shortly in order to review the matters and discuss any impediments in the way. "Suzuki can play an important role in transfer of technology by joint ventures between the Japanese and Pakistani vendors, he said. On the occasion, Suzuki Motor Company Limited CEO briefed the meeting about future plans of Suzuki specially export targets and invited CEO EDB to visit their plant in Karachi.
