Furniture, records, computer lab and other valuables of a private girls' school were burnt by some unknown men here in Khilji Colony on Sariab Road in the wee hours on Sunday, police said.
Some unknown men entered the private girls' public model school and sprinkled petrol inside the rooms and set ablaze its furniture, computers, and other valuables, as there was no watchman in the school. The miscreants also broke the doors of its classrooms. The computers, which did not get burnt, were thrown in a water tank in the premises of the school. Later, the offenders fled from the scene.
Police said that it was premature to say anything about the incident, adding, it would be ascertained after completion of the investigation in this regard.
It is the first incident of its nature that any girls' school had come under attack in the provincial capital. However, no group claimed the responsibility. Sariab police station has registered a case against unknown men and started investigation.
