Punjab Minister for Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Tanveer-ul-Isalm has urged the people to fully participate I the ongoing plantation campaign by planting a sapling, which is the national of everyone.
He expressed these views during a tree plantation ceremony at the ground of Kasur Museum Sunday. Senior officers of District Government and Forest Department, journalists and local political figures attended the function.
Dr Tanveer ul Islam said that, only 5 per cent of total area is under forests in Pakistan while in Punjab it is only 3 per cent, which is insufficient to meet our national needs.
The Minister urged people to plant saplings in the memory of their ancestors. Dr Tanveer ul Islam said that government had fixed target of 13 millions saplings for the plantation campaign during current monsoon in Punjab. He directed the officers of Forest Department to work hard for achieving the target.
