Minister vows to reopen all closed 7,500 schools in Sindh

Senior Minister for Education and Pro-Chancellor University of Sindh Pir Mazharul Haq has said that the government has moved a proposal to return the control of universities and Intermediate Boards to the provincial government. He said that universities and Intermediate Boards of other provinces are working under control of the provincial governments.
Primary teachers will be promoted in Grade 14 while secondary teachers will be promoted in grade 16 respectively. He said that higher secondary teachers will also be promoted in grade 17 and 18 respectively. He was speaking after the inauguration of newly constructed administration building of Sindh University Jamshoro on Sunday.
For the construction of new administration block Higher Education Commission had funded Rs 36.6 million. The minister said that it is most important that we must follow merit in all walks of life which is essential for our own betterment.
He said that Sindh has been facing a critical situation in primary education and 15000 schools are closed down in the country, which includes 7500 schools of Sindh province. He vowed to determine reopen the all closed schools of Sindh and added that corrupt officers in education department have been creating hurdles.
He said that with an agreement singed by the previous government with World Bank for appointment of primary teachers' recruitment tests were conducted in Sindh while in other provinces the teachers were recruited on only educational certificates.
He said that the education system in Karachi and Kandkot is not equal but according to agreement we are bound to recruit candidates who secured 60 percent score in test conducted by IBA. The education minister said that their government has moved a proposal to return the Universities and Intermediate Board under control of Sindh Government equally as other Universities and Intermediate Boards of other provinces have been working under control of the provincial governments. Pir Mazharul Haq also appreciated development and improvement takes place in Sindh University.
He said that his grandfather Pir Illahi Bux presented the bill for the set-up of Sindh University in province but many assembly members opposed it and added that his grand- father wrote a letter to Qauid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for seeking his help. He said that Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in response to letter of my father wrote a letter to Sir Hidayatuulah for help in passing bill from the Assembly, both letters had been published by Syed Khalid Shamsul Hassan in his book while proceedings of the Sindh University bill are on the record of the Assembly.
The Minister also paid tributes to great scholar Allama I.I.Kazi for selecting land for the University and its development and also Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah who also played a key role in Sindh University development.
The Minister also appreciated disciplines in tenure of present Vice Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui. The Education Minister announced that building of the Sindh Science Society would be vacated that society can freely work to fulfil its objectives.
He announced that Intermediate classes for girls at Model school of the University at Jamshoro and classes for boys at government school of Sindh University, and announced that new building will be constructed for the Intermediate College. The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Mazharul Haq Siddiqui on this occasion highlighted academic and research activities of the University.
The Vice Chancellor also requested the Minister for its help in construction of residential quarters for faculty and employees, boys and Girls College and study leave to college teachers for Ph.D as the University has announced 12 scholarships for the college teachers. The Project Director Javed Memon on this occasion briefed the Minister about construction work of the newly constructed building.
The Controller of Examination Dr Parveez Ahmed Pathan in his presentation informed the Minister that the University has been conducting semester examination of 25000 students while 75000 students from pass side. He said that the University has separated examination system of external and regular students of affiliated colleges.
