Partly Facetious: any education criterion for presidency

09 Aug, 2008

"The President says he is 1000 percent sure that the Indians are behind the Balochistan insurgency."
"That's very telling."
"Telling that he had Bugti killed even when he was that sure that the insurgency was of Indian origin?"
"No."
"Telling that he still has the guts to put the blame on India, when the rest of the country blames him for the upsurge in the insurgency...it was after all his refusal to negotiate with the Baloch at a time when he was even willing to negotiate with the Indians..."
"No."
"Telling that he was allowed to visit Balochistan, though to be honest he was cold shouldered by the powers that be over there, and we must thank AZ for that I presume."
"No."
"Telling that he is trying to generate discontent against the elected government and..."
"No."
"I give up, you tell me."
"It is telling that the guy has no math."
"Sorry?"
"Percent is always out of a 100 right. So why the hell does he say 1000 percent - that shows a singular lack of mathematical knowledge."
"I guess."
"Is there any requirement, education requirement, for being a President?"
"If there was Musharraf would have removed them all."
"My point is a president even if he has no degree must have basic math. I mean he must be able to do long divisions and..."
"Maybe, we should get Musharraf to participate in the 'are you smarter than a fifth grader'?"
"The Indian version or the American version?"
"With Musharraf it has to be the American version."
"Don't be facetious."
