09 Aug, 2008

The lawyers in provincial capital continued their routine protest and observed boycott of courts to mount up the pressure for the restoration of judges, here on Friday. Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) and District Bar observed token strike for one hour in line with the decision of Pakistan Bar Council while during the boycott, no one appeared before courts.
Meanwhile, Save the Judiciary Committee (SJC) continued its protest camp for judges' restoration in the compound of LHCBA in which the office-bearers of the organisation alongwith the large number of the lawyers participated. The protesters in the camp chanted slogans in favour of deposed judges and for the independent judiciary.
They strongly rejected every minus one/two formula regarding the reinstatement of the judges adding that the movement would be continued till the restoration of all the deposed judges including Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary. They also criticised the government policy to delay the judges' restoration and vowed to continue their struggle till the independence of judiciary.
