Ministry of Population Welfare will set up a day care centre in its building called "Population House" to facilitate female employees who had been demanding for the facility for a long time. The spokesperson of the ministry told newsmen on Saturday that the facility equipped with all necessary facilities would also benefit female working in other ministries situated in the Pak-secretariat.
She said that efforts had been expedited to resolve issues relating to funds for the centre, adding that other formal procedures were in final stages to materialise the plan soon. Presently, she added, most of the women were compelled to put their children into day-care centre established in Aabara community centre, which was far-off, consuming time and money, both.
She said that establishment of day care was a positive step and would help boost performance of the female employees who were effectively contributing their services for success of the ministry's programmes. She said the ministry had launched a crash programme to educate local doctors on issues relating to contraceptive surgery in different major cities of the country. The training sessions were being held in hospitals of Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Larkana, Sukkur, Quetta, Muzaffarabad, Multan and Dera Ismail Khan, the DG said.
