Speaking to the participants at the dinner hosted in his honour by Syed Hassan Askari at Circuit House on Saturday.
He claimed that he had succeeded in wooing 20 members of the national assembly belonging to PML-Q to vote against President Pervez Musharraf. He further said: "Out of the 27 independent members, we have been assured support by 25. We are working on the rest of the two and hope to get their support too," Hashmi said.
Hashmi said the people want ouster of the president and it will be impossible for legislatures to go against the wishes of the people. He is quite sure that PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim will also vote in favour of impeachment. He said that coalition parties' decision to strengthen the parliament would help resolve the miseries and problems being faced by the masses.
He said that the PML-N and PPP and other coalition partners had taken up a big challenge and hoped that people would support them as the people had given them mandate in the February 18 polls.
