The Chairman, Employees Old-Age Benefits (EOBI), Asadullah Sheikh has said that the recent amendments in the EOB Act would help increase the number of industrial and trade organisations and labourers in the EOB scheme.
He was addressing the closing session of the Conference of Regional and departmental heads of the EOBI, a news release issued on Sunday said.
He directed the regional heads to personally visit fields, inform the industrialist about benefits of the scheme and convince them to get their units registered. Further, he stressed on the importance of training that plays a crucial role in improving the image and service of an institution.
Sheikh said the EOBI is a welfare institution for working class that provides financial support to workers of industrial and commercial establishments during old age and invalidity.
The Chairman advised the regional heads to act as leaders, managers and workers simultaneously and involve themselves to the grass root level to achieve the goal of the institution. At the concluding session, shields and certificates were distributed among best region and the 10- beat officers who have shown outstanding performance during the year 2007-08.
