Chairman Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights, S. M. Zafar and members of the committee have expressed grief over the killing of Sheikh Abdul Aziz a prominent leader of APHC. In a press release issued here on Tuesday, they condemned the brutal police action of shooting directly into the civilian crowed resulting into the death of four persons including Sheikh Abdul Aziz on the spot.
The incident brings to mind the type of action of General Dyre who ordered to shoot into the crowd in Jalianwala Bagh in Amritsar during brutal colonial rule, Zafar said. The Committee called upon Indian government to take immediate action against the predators of the crime and bring them to book. It further demanded that the withdrawal of military personnel from occupied Jammu and Kashmir as was understood to be a part of confidence building measures be implemented to create an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
