Parliament House: Fehmida satisfied over security arrangements

The Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza on Saturday expressed her satisfaction over the security arrangements for the Parliament House and vowed for making security foolproof. She stated this while addressing a meeting held at Parliament House to review the security arrangements of both the Houses of the Parliament.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker, National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi, Rehman Malik, Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior, Secretary Interior, Kamal Shah, Chairman CDA, Kamran Lashari, Secretary National Assembly, Karamat Hussain Niazi, Secretary, Senate Raja Amin, I.G Police, Islamabad, Asghar Raza Gardaizi and SSP Security, Dr Naeem Khan.
Dr Fehmida said the government should utilise its channels to further improve the security of the parliament for better performance of the legislators. Rehman Malik, while briefing the meeting said that the security of the Parliament House was prime concern of the security agencies of the country and concerned departments have taken variety of measures to make the security foolproof.
Malik informed the meeting that there was dire need of redesigning, restructuring and improvement of certain points to bolster the security of the Parliament. He said that there was need to revise Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), increase in number of security staff.
Malik proposed formation of a committee comprising of Secretary, National Assembly and Secretary along with officers from both the Secretariats and Police Department to review the security measures in the Parliament House and give its recommendations within three days. He assured the Speaker for funds required for the implementations of the recommendations of the committee.
