Bill to ensure safe blood transfusion soon: minister

Ministry of Health is in the process of drafting a legislative bill to ensure safe blood transfusion. "The legislation on safe blood transfusion is a landmark step which would ensure that this critical health practice is conducted in Pakistan under the most diligent and internationally endorsed safety measures", said Minister for Health and Information and Broadcasting Ms Sherry Sherry Rehman.
She said the drafting process would be completed in a few weeks after which the proposed bill would be sent for vetting to the Law Ministry. "It will then be forwarded to the provinces for endorsement from all provincial assemblies before submitted to the parliament for final approval," she added.
Briefing the media on proposed legislation here Saturday, Ms Rehman said: "We aim to address a range of specific areas critical to safe blood transfusion practices in the draft bill.
