'Giving safe passage to Musharraf will simply distort the pages of our country's history,' the Secretary General, International Affairs, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Sheikh Kaiser Mehmood said on Saturday. 'President Pervez Musharraf deserve no leniency for his act of violating the constitution of the country time and again bartering against Pakistan's sovereignty just to save his rule,' He said.
Mehmood further said that Musharraf carried out operation in Wana and killed innocent students of Madaris on the dictates of his foreign masters causing severe blow to national interests. It was the result of his self-centered and anti-people policies that today Musharraf stands totally isolated as even his own party has turned its back on him, he added.
He also claimed that most of the elected representatives of Musharraf's party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Q would vote in favour of impeachment to atone for their sins of supporting him in the past. The PML-N leader also said the statements by top leadership of Q-League in support of the President are also just a formal activity as no serious and conscientious leader is ready to share the burden of his sins.
Further, he asserted that the President is today reaping what he sowed during the last eight and half years of is rein adding that Musharraf should quit immediately instead of wasting nation's time. In addition to this, Mehmood told newsmen that people of Pakistan posses the spirit of democracy and they want to see Mian Nawaz Sharif in the Parliament and bring Pervez Musharraf to the court of justice.
