Venezuela will go ahead with the government take-over of three cement companies when a deadline for compensation talks is reached next week, President Hugo Chavez said on Sunday.
Chavez, who has nationalised several key industries of the OPEC nation's economy, in April said he would take at least a 60 percent stake in the local units of Mexico's Cemex, Switzerland's Holcim and France's Lafarge, to help government home building targets. "Tomorrow we will go ahead with the nationalisation and recover the cement industries to launch the housing plan and continue developing the country," Chavez said on his weekly television show.
