Punjab government is spending Rs3.63 billion during current fiscal year on converting 144 schools into 'Centre of Excellence' schools in the Province.
Official sources told Business Recorder on Sunday that under the programme, latest education and modern facilities would be provided in these schools while 11,000 orphans and deserving male and female students would be given education and accommodation facilities in 72 schools of Punjab. This programme would be expanded in Punjab, gradually, sources added.
Further, as per programme, two schools would also be established at each tehsil headquarter for orphan male and female students in Punjab. Sources also revealed that the government has decided to start free air-conditioned school bus service for the poor students for mitigating their problems.
