Guard of honour at presidential palace

As news of the three services contingents according a guard of honour to President Pervez Musharraf at the imposing presidential palace located on Constitution Avenue aired in the media, was described as public outrage that was mirrored in the National Assembly.
Historically, though Pakistan has accorded guard of honour to only one of her civilian presidents. The late Ghulam Ishaq Khan is said to be the only President, who was accorded guard of honour after his resignation following a political impasse in the country.
However, Sardar Farooq Leghari, now one of the top PPP foes, was not given a guard of honour and neither was Rafique Tarrar, another elected President, who was summarily dismissed by General Muharraf (Retd) and was not given any guard of honour.
