Fazl for APC to evolve joint strategy to improve law and order

22 Aug, 2008

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F chief Mualana Fazl-ur-Rehman has stressed the need for immediate convening of all parties conference (APC) to evolve a joint strategy to improve the law and order situation. Talking to journalists here at the Parliament House here on Thursday, the Maulana said formation of ruling coalition had given hope to the nation that it would work for ensuring political stability and the supremacy of the parliament and the Constitution.
In reply to a question, he said that if this coalition fell apart, this would be very unfortunate and totally against the peoples' aspirations. "This would send a message that the coalition partners had formed the alliance not to resolve the issues, but just to oust Pervez Musharraf from the presidency," he said.
The JUI F leader said that coalition partners should take initiatives as per the mandate given to them in the last elections. "The ruling coalition was formed to ensure supremacy of the rule of law and of the Constitution, political stability and resolution of problems being faced by the general public.
"It would be very unfortunate if this alliance faces a break-up. The law and order situation in the country is not good and precious lives are being lost in bomb blasts. We propose that the government should convene an APC to seek recommendations from all the political parties to improve the law and order situation in the country," he said.
