Minister directs free treatment of dengue-hit patients

Sindh Health Minister Dr Saghir Ahmed has said all possible steps be taken for free treatment of dengue affected patients admitted to Sindh government hospitals. Chairing a meeting with the officials of his department, the minister directed that no charges of any sort should be recovered from patients or their attendants for platelets and screening.
He warned that concerned medical superintendents would be held responsible if any such charges are recovered and they will reimburse the same to patients. On the occasion, the meeting was informed that as per latest reports, six new patients suspected of having dengue fever have been admitted to hospitals during the last 24 hours and this has raised the number of suspected patients brought to hospitals in Karachi to 295 while at present 33 such patients are admitted.
