Thought for the day

23 Aug, 2008

Your editorial on independence thy, 14th August 2008, was brilliant and educative, giving the crucial historical facts leading towards the coming into being of our beloved Pakistan.
This two-column editorial should be of immense literary guidance to prospective historians interested to write history of Pakistan with neutral minds, it was interesting to note that a section broke away from the Muslim League and formed a parallel organisation as Shafi Muslim League.
At least this scribe came to know for the first time that there had been defectors prior to the creation of Pakistan. With this revelation there should be no wonder or regrets if there are mushroom Muslim Leagues formed by a number of politicians done with the beginning done by Ayub Khan.
Sir, we also share your concern for the revival of democracy and to translate Quaid's cherished dream into reality. But serious apprehensions have developed since the last elections. Impeachment has cropped up and the burning issue of restoration of judges has been thrown to the winds.
People's sufferings are multiplying day by day and nobody knows who rules over whom. Anyway, as we are determined Pakistanis, who have been passing through trials and turmoils since the inception of Pakistan, hope for the good.
