Three Indian soldiers and four Kashmiri freedom fighters were killed Friday in a gunbattle near the de facto border dividing Kashmir between India and Pakistan, the military said. "The gunbattle erupted in Machil sector near the Line of Control," Indian army spokesman Anil Kumar Mathur said.
"In the day-long fighting, three soldiers including a colonel were killed," he said, adding four freedom fighters died in retaliatory fire in the mountainous area north of occupied Srinagar. He said the fighting was continuing.
