The monitoring team of Governor Sindh headed by Major Aftab Lodhi (Retd) special secretary of Governor Sindh for universities in province, noted educationist and other members Dr S.M.Qureshi, Fazeelat Mehdi and Afsheen Anees on Monday visited University of Sindh Jamshoro to inspect development projects.
They also hold a meeting with Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, Pro. Vice Chancellor Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh and other concerned officials. The Vice Chancellor while welcoming the members of the team highlighted development projects funded by Higher Education.
He informed that almost all development projects funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the university have been completed and all buildings handed over to the concerned institutes and departments, which are functional. The Vice Chancellor as well as university officials congratulated Aftab Lodhi on presidential award of Sitari-e-Imtiaz conferred by Government of Pakistan in recognition of his public services.
The Vice Chancellor on this occasion in recognition of services Aftab Lodhi presented a shield to him and said that Lodhi deserve this award and shield as he had worked hard for the promotion of higher education in Sindh. On this occasion Lodhi expresses thanks to the University of Sindh for co-operation and said that the award conferred upon him is honour not only for him but also for the universities of the province.
Aftab said that he believed in a team work and due to team work the universities have been progressing. The Advisor Planning and Development University of Sindh Muhammad Hussain Shaikh briefed the monitoring team about development projects.
He informed that University of Sindh has completed construction project of Under graduate girls hostel with cost of Rs 38.880 million, Institute of Biochemistry with cost of Rs 33.437 million, Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering with cost of Rs 38.668 million and Foreign Faculty Hostel with cost of Rs 15.557 million.
He further said that Extension of Building of Dr M.A Kazi Institute of Chemistry as well as new building of the Institute of English Language and literature is under progress. He further informed that on going construction work of the departments of the Faculty of Pharmacy approved under mega project with cost of Rs 498.426 million would be completed with its deadline of 60 months time.
Dr S.M. Qureshi member of the monitoring team advised the university to prepare a master plan of the university. The team members also advised the University to construct main gate of the university. The monitoring team of the Sindh governor appreciated progress of the construction on lower rate with good quality work. The team advised the university to construct building in uniform designs as well as color schemes in consultation with architecture.
The team members also visited administrative block, Institute of Art and Design, Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering and Foreign Faculty Hostel and appreciated quality and beauty of the buildings. The briefing to the governor's monitoring team was also attended by Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, Registrar Muhammad Saleh Rajar, Director Finance Faiz Muhammad Hingoro and Project Directors.
