The Lahore High Court (LHC) issued notices to Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) and Prosecution Department and called for report by September 08, in a petition filed by eleven deputy and assistant district prosecutors against holding of fresh exams for their posts.
The prosecutors Fazal-ur-Rehman and others through their counsels Muzammal Akhter Shabbir and Muqtadir Akhter Shabbir contended that holding of fresh exams was based on mala fide as the petitioners had passed the interview and their services were confirmed.
Later an advertisement issued on November 25, 2007 by PPSC for fresh appointments withdrawn on February 19, 2008. However, after more than one year the new government of Punjab had terminated their services on July 25, 2008 with mala fide intention.
They further pleaded that the fresh advertisements issued by the PPSC and prosecution department was against the law and the merit policy. Their tenure of contract was for three years and no fresh appointment can be made before its expiry.
